You Are Really Going to Arrest a 6 year old?

I was searching around the internet and found an article on how this 6 year old, who lived in Georgia, was arrested for having a temper tantrum. It was said that the kid threw items off of the wall and throwing furniture, granted that this can be a dangerous situation, the police still shouldn't have been called. I believe that the parents should have been notified and told to pick up their child before the police were even mentioned. I don't think it's a productive use of the police if the aggressor is only a six year old. The poor kid should not have to go to the jail. She is a little kid and sometimes little kids act out, but it is not extreme nor will ever be extreme to the point where the police need to be called. A group of adults could easily restrain her if needed to, the mother could've been notified in order to get the child to calm down. What makes the situation worst is that they decided to handcuff the girl and put her in a holding cell because she did not cooperate when the police tried to get her to calm down. If she is not familiar with the police, it can be extremely scary for a little girl to be confronted by grown men in uniforms. I believe the situation just shows how people can completely over-exaggerate a situation and they can be lazy. Would it really be that hard to try take a cushion to protect yourself and then just get the girl away from anything to throw?

Spring Break Blues Have Gone Away

Usually over the break, teachers decide to throw in every single project so that the spring break fun is completely wasted due to the increased amount of work. For once I am absolutely delighted that my teachers did not decide to make me sad all spring break with tons of homework and projects. I believe the teachers need a break themselves, so they shouldn't add all this work just so they get it all during spring break. The teachers probably didn't want to grade anything anyways, especially since people were cranky due to the lack of snow days. What year is complete if there aren't any snow days? Spring break was perfect this year because the teachers planned for snow so they rushed all their lessons, but the snow did not fall. This led to a peaceful, work-free, lazy spring break. If only next year the same thing happens because that would surely be the best. In the honest opinion, nobody needs to work during a spring break. It would be cruel and unusual punishment. Hopefully people have enough common sense to stay smart and safe this spring break, but I'm going to enjoy my fun in the sun while it last.

Sophie's Secret by Tara West

I would most definitely give this book a 4 out of 5 stars! The book was a unique love story with a supernatural twist. The main character Sophie was sweet and nice, having a little bit of insecurity like any normal teenager. I thought that made her seem believable and it helped any reader to be able to understand where she was coming from. I thought the book had a great message as well, saying that sometimes you have to listen to your friends even though you might not like what they have to say. The only thing that I didn't really like was that the Sophie and her other supernatural friends didn't really talk a lot about their powers or how they felt. I also didn't like that AJ (one of Sophie's friend) told the outcome of what would happen with Sophie and one of her love interest. It disappointed me a little because I didn't get to be completely surprised about the ending.Overall the book was amazing and cute. The author did a good job at balancing mystery, romance, and the paranormal, wrapping it up in a delightful book.

Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles

Perfect Chemistry was a perfect book for anyone who wants to read a little romance. The main characters, Brittany and Alex, shared a bond that couldn't be passed up. Their love towards each other made the book capturing to the reader. The author did an amazing job creating her characters and giving them both depth. Alex wasn't just some gang member who loved the rush of killing and drug dealing, and Brittany wasn't a shallow popular girl who had nothing going on in her head. Every page helped the reader truly understand and relate to the characters, even though their situations were too unique for one to fully understand the emotional effect of their loses. The ending was the most amazing and endearing completion to any book that I have read. The book ending didn't make me mad or upset; it had the perfect amount of mystery so that I could imagine, but it also had enough completion so that I wouldn't get mad that she didn't finalize everything. The only bad part about the book would have to be all the Spanish that I didn't know. While it gave me joy to know most of the words that they were saying, it would've been nice if the author put a glossary or explained some of the less known Spanish words. I had a feeling that some of the words she used were Spanish cuss words, but I still don't know. None the less, I'd give this book a 5 out of 5 because it captured my heart and I thought it was amazing.

Plastic Surgery to Grow Taller?

I understand that being short can be a real pain; I am a strong advocate of wanting to be taller, but I would never go through painful surgery to do so. A ton of people live perfectly happy just being short. Does being taller help a guy's love life? Sadly the answer is yes, but plastic surgery to that extent is a little too much. These people put a rod in their leg then have it lengthen over time as the bone grows around it. The man in the video seemed to be in extreme pain just to gain three inches. If someone is that insecure about their height then they need to go see a therapist because it is clearly not healthy. The men in the video seemed to pay thousands of dollars and there is no telling what the long term effects of the surgery are going to be. If you gain the extra inches then won't your legs start to hurt when you get older and your bones might have other problems? I just think it is a little too drastic.

The Horrors and Benefits of Annotating

Annotating is a good way to keep track of what you are reading and absorb more of the information you are trying to analyze. The beginning of books can be confusing and full of a lot of complicated vocabulary, especially when the book is from school. In order to make sure you fully grasp the beginning of a book, you annotate to get past the boring parts. Annotating isn't that bad during the beginning of the book, but when the plot comes together it can become annoying to annotate. I hate when everything is being explained yet you still have to write something for the teacher to see. It then makes reading maniacal, wanting you to give up all together. I don't know about you, but annotation is not my friend.
